Moet ik de punten van mijn Kentia Palm afknippen?
De Kentia Palm staat bekend als een sterke kamerplant, maar ook deze palm kan last krijgen van bruine bladpunten. Veel mensen vragen zich af: moet ik die punten afknippen, en zo ja, hoe doe ik dat op de juiste manier? In dit artikel lees je het antwoord en krijg je duidelijke instructies.
Waarom krijgt de Kentia Palm bruine bladpunten?
Droge lucht: vooral in de winter door verwarming of airco.
Onregelmatig water geven: te droog of juist te nat.
Te veel voeding: overbemesting kan bladpunten verbranden.
Een paar bruine punten zijn normaal en geen teken dat de hele plant ongezond is.
Wanneer wel en niet knippen?
Kleine bruine punten: kun je voorzichtig bijknippen voor een netter uiterlijk.
Volledig bruine bladeren: beter helemaal weghalen bij de basis van de steel.
Licht verkleurde bladeren: laat die zitten, ze dragen nog bij aan de energievoorziening van de plant.
Hoe knip je bruine punten af?
Gebruik een scherpe, schone schaar om infecties te voorkomen.
Knip alleen het bruine deel weg, volg de natuurlijke vorm van het blad.
Laat altijd een dun randje bruin zitten om verdere beschadiging te voorkomen.
Verwijder volledig dode bladeren door ze bij de steel voorzichtig af te knippen.
Hoe voorkom je bruine punten?
Sproei de bladeren regelmatig om de luchtvochtigheid te verhogen.
Controleer de grond voor je water geeft, zo voorkom je uitdroging of wortelrot.
Geef voeding alleen in de lente en zomer, maximaal eens per maand.
Zet de palm niet te dicht bij radiatoren of tochtige plekken.
