No, a Calathea Medallion is not toxic to cats and dogs. That makes it a nice choice if you have pets that nibble plants.
How big does a Calathea Medallion get?
A Calathea Medallion stays a compact, bushy plant that grows outwards. XXLplant sells a large specimen, 80 cm tall in a ø24 cm pot, measured including the nursery pot. That makes it a good floor plant.
Where should you put a Calathea Medallion?
Place your Calathea Medallion in a bright spot or partial shade, out of direct sunlight. Harsh sun makes the pattern on the leaves fade. Keep it between 18 and 24 °C and out of draughts.
How often should you water a Calathea Medallion?
Keep the soil of a Calathea Medallion slightly moist, but not wet. Ideally use soft water or rainwater, because limescale causes brown leaf edges. Water a little less in winter.
Why does my Calathea Medallion have brown edges or curling leaves?
Brown edges and curling leaves on a Calathea Medallion are usually caused by dry air, hard water or soil that is too dry. Keep it away from radiators, raise the humidity and water with soft water. You can trim off damaged leaves.
Why do the leaves of my Calathea go up in the evening?
That is normal: a Calathea Medallion folds its leaves upwards in the evening and lowers them again during the day. This movement is part of the plant and does not mean anything is wrong.
How is a Calathea Medallion delivered?
Your Calathea travels upright in its own plant box, with the plant in a paper sleeve and the pot secured. In frost or heat we add a heat pack or cold pack. It usually arrives within 4 to 5 working days.
