Details

Set of 6 young, evergreen boxwood plants with small glossy leaves. Suitable for low hedges, edging and topiary in sun or partial shade.

Type: Buxus sempervirens 'NewGen Freedom' · Pot: ø7 cm · Height: approx. 15 cm

Buxus 'NewGen Freedom' is an evergreen boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) with small, glossy dark green leaves and compact, dense growth. You receive a set of 6 young plants about 15 cm tall in a ø7 cm pot. This selection has been bred for resilience against box blight and box tree moth.

Use the plants for a low hedge along a path or border, as edging around a bed or for topiary. They grow in sun and partial shade in soil that drains well and eventually reach about 90 cm if left unclipped. Trim them into shape in May and September. Boxwood is toxic to dogs and cats.

Delivery

Shipping a two-metre plant takes more than a box and some tape. That's why we do it differently from an ordinary online shop.

How your plant arrives in one piece

Fresh from the greenhouse
Your plant does not sit in a warehouse for weeks. The grower only takes it out of the greenhouse after you order and prepares it straight away.
Packed securely
In a box made for plants. Plant and soil are secured and a protective sleeve keeps the leaves intact, so nothing shifts on the way.
Protected from heat and frost
Is it very hot or freezing outside? Then we add a cold pack or heat pack to the box, so the weather doesn't affect your plant on the way.
The right carrier for every size
Smaller plants are delivered by PostNL or DHL. The very largest plants travel upright on a pallet with a specialist carrier.
You know exactly when it arrives
As soon as your plant is on its way, you receive track & trace by email, so you can make sure someone is home and, for a large plant, someone to help carry it in.

When will your plant arrive?

Frequently asked questions about Buxus sempervirens 'NewGen Freedom'

The questions we're asked most about this plant. Can't find yours? Our plant experts are happy to help.

Ask your question

How many Buxus NewGen Freedom do you need per metre of hedge?

For a low, dense hedge, plant 4 to 5 plants per running metre, 20 to 25 cm apart. With this set of 6 you can plant just over a metre of hedge or a small bed.

When do you plant Buxus NewGen Freedom?

Plant boxwood in spring, from March to May, or in autumn from September to November. Outside those periods it is also possible as long as the ground is not frozen. Water well after planting.

Where should you plant Buxus NewGen Freedom?

Boxwood grows in sun and in partial shade. What matters is soil that drains well, as it does not tolerate wet feet.

Is Buxus NewGen Freedom hardy and evergreen?

Yes, this boxwood is hardy and keeps its dark green foliage all year. A hedge therefore gives the garden structure in winter too.

When do you prune Buxus NewGen Freedom?

Trim boxwood in May and in September. Preferably do this on a cloudy day, so the fresh cuts do not scorch in the sun.
