Details

Four green plants for a home with cats, including Cyperus 'Zumula' and spider plant. According to the grower, pet-friendly, for a bright windowsill where the cat can reach them.

Contents: 4 plants · Height: 28 to 30 cm (including nursery pot) · Pot size: ø12 cm

This cat grass mix consists of four houseplants in a ø12 cm pot and is 28 to 30 cm tall including nursery pot. The mix includes Cyperus alternifolius 'Zumula', with bright green stems and narrow, grass-like leaves in a fan shape, and Chlorophytum, the spider plant, with long green leaves with a light edge.

The grower sells these plants as pet-friendly, and the spider plant is listed by the ASPCA as non-toxic to cats and dogs. This makes them suitable for a home with a cat that likes to nibble on greenery. Place them in a bright spot. Cyperus is a marsh plant and always wants moist soil; allow the spider plant to dry out slightly between waterings.

Delivery

Shipping a two-metre plant takes more than a box and some tape. That's why we do it differently from an ordinary online shop.

How your plant arrives in one piece

Fresh from the greenhouse
Your plant does not sit in a warehouse for weeks. The grower only takes it out of the greenhouse after you order and prepares it straight away.
Packed securely
In a box made for plants. Plant and soil are secured and a protective sleeve keeps the leaves intact, so nothing shifts on the way.
Protected from heat and frost
Is it very hot or freezing outside? Then we add a cold pack or heat pack to the box, so the weather doesn't affect your plant on the way.
The right carrier for every size
Smaller plants are delivered by PostNL or DHL. The very largest plants travel upright on a pallet with a specialist carrier.
You know exactly when it arrives
As soon as your plant is on its way, you receive track & trace by email, so you can make sure someone is home and, for a large plant, someone to help carry it in.

When will your plant arrive?

Plant care

Position: Bright, a few hours of sun is fine. The spider plant also grows in partial shade.

Water: Cyperus likes soil that is always moist and may stand with a layer of water in the saucer. Allow the spider plant to dry out slightly between waterings.

Fertiliser: Houseplant fertiliser once every three weeks from April to September.

Temperature: Room temperature, not below 12 °C.

Toxicity: According to the grower, pet-friendly. The spider plant (Chlorophytum) is listed by the ASPCA as non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Flowering

Cyperus produces small brownish-green flower tufts at the top of its stems and the spider plant can produce small white flowers on long runners. Both flower modestly; you buy them for their greenery. The plants usually do not flower yet when delivered.

Plant height may vary by up to 10 cm. Height includes the nursery pot. The nursery pot may differ from the one in the photo.

Frequently asked questions about Cyperus alternifolius 'Zumula', Chlorophytum

The questions we're asked most about this plant. Can't find yours? Our plant experts are happy to help.

Ask your question

Which plants are in this cat grass mix?

The mix consists of four plants, including Cyperus alternifolius 'Zumula' and Chlorophytum, the spider plant. All plants are 28 to 30 cm tall including nursery pot.

Is this cat grass mix safe for cats?

The grower sells these plants as pet-friendly and the spider plant is listed by the ASPCA as non-toxic to cats and dogs. If a cat eats a lot of leaves, it may briefly get stomach upset, as with any grass.

How often should you water cat grass?

Cyperus 'Zumula' is a marsh plant and always wants moist soil, so water it several times a week. The spider plant needs less; let the top layer dry out first for that plant.

Where should you place cat grass?

In a bright spot, for example on a windowsill where the cat can reach it. A few hours of sun is no problem. In a dark place, the stems become limp.

Why does my cat grass get brown tips?

Brown tips on Cyperus are usually caused by a pot that is too dry or dry air. With the spider plant, calcareous tap water may also be a cause. Feel free to trim the tips.
