Plant daffodil bulbs in autumn, from September to the end of November. They need time to form roots, so planting early pays off. Depending on the variety, they flower from March into April.
How deep do you plant daffodil bulbs?
Plant daffodil bulbs 10 to 15 centimetres deep, with the tip pointing up. Small varieties such as Tête-à-Tête can go a little shallower, around 8 centimetres. Large bulbs can go a little deeper.
How many daffodil bulbs do you need per m²?
With a planting distance of 10 to 15 centimetres, you need about 60 daffodil bulbs per square metre. Small varieties can be planted closer together. Use the calculator on this page to convert your area into a number of bulbs.
Can you plant daffodil bulbs in a pot?
Yes, the shorter daffodils in particular do well in a pot or planter. Use a pot with a drainage hole and place the bulbs close together. Keep the pot outdoors, because daffodils need a cold period to flower.
