Stel je vraagWhen do you plant a bulb mix?
Plant a mix of spring bloomers in autumn, from October to mid-December. Because the varieties flower one after the other, you have something in flower from early spring into late spring.
How deep do you plant the bulbs from a mix?
Plant each bulb at two to three times its own height. Large bulbs such as tulips and daffodils go 10 to 15 centimetres deep, small bulbs such as crocuses and muscari 5 to 8 centimetres. In a pot you can plant them in layers on top of each other, the largest at the bottom.
How many bulbs from a mix do you need per m²?
With an average planting distance of 8 to 12 centimetres, you need about 100 bulbs per square metre. If the mix contains mainly large bulbs, you need fewer. Use the calculator on this page to convert your area into a number of bulbs.
Can you plant a bulb mix in a pot?
Yes, a mix is suitable for a large pot or planter. Plant in layers: large bulbs at the bottom, small bulbs above, with a layer of soil in between. Make sure there is a drainage hole and keep the pot outdoors.
Do the bulbs from a mix come back every year?
That depends on the variety. Crocuses, daffodils and muscari usually come back every year, while tulips flower best in their first year. If you want the same full display every year, top up in autumn.
Are the bulbs from a mix poisonous to cats and dogs?
Many flower bulbs in a mix, such as tulip, daffodil and hyacinth, are poisonous to cats and dogs. Keep the bulbs out of reach until you plant them.
