Frequently asked questions about Pilea involucrata 'Moon Valley'

The questions we're asked most about this plant. Can't find yours? Our plant experts are happy to help.

Ask your question
How large does a Pilea Moon Valley grow?
This Pilea Moon Valley is 12 cm tall including the nursery pot, in a pot of ø6 cm. It stays compact and tends to grow wider rather than taller, reaching around 30 cm over time.
Where should you place a Pilea Moon Valley?
In a bright spot without direct sun. A bathroom with a window or a terrarium is ideal, as it loves humid air.
How often should you water a Pilea Moon Valley?
Keep the soil evenly moist, usually once or twice a week in summer. Do not let it dry out, but also prevent water from remaining in the pot.
Is a Pilea Moon Valley toxic to cats and dogs?
No, Pilea involucrata is listed by the ASPCA as non-toxic to cats and dogs. It is still best not to let pets nibble on it.
Why is my Pilea Moon Valley getting brown edges?
Brown leaf edges are usually caused by dry air or by the soil drying out too much. Put it in a more humid spot, or place the pot on a saucer with gravel and a layer of water.
