Details

Golden oak fern with wavy, blue-green foliage and hairy rhizomes over the edge of the pot. Non-toxic to pets and suitable for partial shade or a bright bathroom.

Species: Phlebodium aureum 'Davana' · Height: 60 cm (including nursery pot) · Pot size: ø26 cm

The golden oak fern 'Davana' (Phlebodium aureum) is a fern with deeply cut leaves that grow wavy and somewhat curled, in a fresh blue-green colour. Hairy, golden-brown rhizomes creep over the edge of the pot, which is where the plant gets its name. This plant is 60 cm tall including nursery pot in a pot of ø26 cm.

It looks lovely on a low cabinet, a plant table or in the bathroom. A fern that is less demanding than many others, for anyone with a spot in partial shade. Place it in a bright spot but out of direct sun and keep the potting soil slightly moist. The golden oak fern is non-toxic to cats and dogs. It is supplied in the nursery pot; choose a decorative pot separately.

Delivery

Shipping a two-metre plant takes more than a box and some tape. That's why we do it differently from an ordinary online shop.

How your plant arrives in one piece

Fresh from the greenhouse
Your plant does not sit in a warehouse for weeks. The grower only takes it out of the greenhouse after you order and prepares it straight away.
Packed securely
In a box made for plants. Plant and soil are secured and a protective sleeve keeps the leaves intact, so nothing shifts on the way.
Protected from heat and frost
Is it very hot or freezing outside? Then we add a cold pack or heat pack to the box, so the weather doesn't affect your plant on the way.
The right carrier for every size
Smaller plants are delivered by PostNL or DHL. The very largest plants travel upright on a pallet with a specialist carrier.
You know exactly when it arrives
As soon as your plant is on its way, you receive track & trace by email, so you can make sure someone is home and, for a large plant, someone to help carry it in.

Frequently asked questions about Phlebodium aureum 'Davana'

The questions we're asked most about this plant. Can't find yours? Our plant experts are happy to help.

Ask your question

How large is this golden oak fern Davana?

This Phlebodium 'Davana' is 60 cm tall, measured including nursery pot, and comes in a pot of ø26 cm. The foliage grows wavy and loosely, also somewhat in width.

What is the difference between Phlebodium Davana and Blue Star?

Both are forms of Phlebodium aureum with blue-green foliage. In 'Davana', the leaf edges are wavier and more curled; 'Blue Star' has somewhat flatter, deeply cut leaves.

Where should you place a golden oak fern?

In a bright spot without direct sun, or in partial shade. A bathroom with a window is ideal because of the humid air.

How often should you water a golden oak fern?

Keep the potting soil slightly moist, often about once a week in summer. Preferably do not pour water over the hairy rhizomes, but onto the potting soil.

Is a golden oak fern toxic to cats and dogs?

No, Phlebodium aureum is listed by the ASPCA as non-toxic to cats and dogs.
