Details

The Licuala Grandis is an exotic fan palm with large, round, pleated leaves that instantly add a tropical feel to your interior. This unique plant is a real eye-catcher with an elegant appearance and an airy, fan-like structure.

Species: Licuala grandis · Pot size: ø19 cm

The Licuala grandis is a tropical fan palm with large, almost round leaves that are pleated like an open fan and have a toothed edge. This specimen is 90 cm tall and stands in a pot of ø19 cm. It's an indoor palm for anyone with a warm, bright room who enjoys giving a plant a little extra attention. In the living room or bedroom it does best in a spot with plenty of indirect light, out of harsh sun and well away from draughts. Keep the potting soil evenly moist and don't let it dry out. It likes high humidity; misting or a tray of water with pebbles under the pot helps prevent brown edges. It is supplied in the grow pot, and a decorative pot is chosen separately.

Delivery

Shipping a two-metre plant takes more than a box and some tape. That's why we do it differently from an ordinary online shop.

How your plant arrives in one piece

Fresh from the greenhouse
Your plant does not sit in a warehouse for weeks. The grower only takes it out of the greenhouse after you order and prepares it straight away.
Packed securely
In a box made for plants. Plant and soil are secured and a protective sleeve keeps the leaves intact, so nothing shifts on the way.
Protected from heat and frost
Is it very hot or freezing outside? Then we add a cold pack or heat pack to the box, so the weather doesn't affect your plant on the way.
The right carrier for every size
Smaller plants are delivered by PostNL or DHL. The very largest plants travel upright on a pallet with a specialist carrier.
You know exactly when it arrives
As soon as your plant is on its way, you receive track & trace by email, so you can make sure someone is home and, for a large plant, someone to help carry it in.

When will your plant arrive?

4–5working days after you order

Frequently asked questions about Licuala grandis

The questions we're asked most about this plant. Can't find yours? Our plant experts are happy to help.

Ask your question

How big does a Licuala grandis grow?

A Licuala grandis grows slowly and stays compact indoors for a long time. At XXLplant you buy it as a 100 cm tall plant, measured including the nursery pot. It mainly grows wider through new, round leaf fans.

Where should you place a Licuala grandis?

Place the Licuala grandis in a spot with plenty of bright, indirect light or in partial shade, without direct sun. Direct sun scorches the thin, pleated leaves. A warm room between 18 and 27 °C is ideal, not below 15 °C.

How often should you water a Licuala grandis?

Keep the soil evenly moist and don't let it dry out. Also don't leave water standing in the decorative pot, as it can't tolerate waterlogging. In winter it needs slightly less.

Why is my Licuala grandis getting brown leaf edges?

Brown edges are usually caused by dry air, because this palm loves high humidity. The compost drying out or draughts can also be the cause. Keep it away from the radiator and keep the soil evenly moist.

How is a Licuala grandis delivered?

The palm is shipped upright in its own plant box, with the leaves in a paper sleeve and the pot secured. In frost or heat, we add a heat pack or cold pack. Within the Netherlands, orders placed Sunday to Wednesday are usually delivered within 2-3 working days.
