Het mag wel wat plant vriendelijker worden bezorgd. De plant kwam een beetje beschadigd aan. Door dat de bladeren op een onjuiste manier in de doos waren gestopt. Verder is het een mooie plant.

Veelgestelde vragen over Ficus carica
De vragen die we het vaakst krijgen over deze plant. Staat jouw vraag er niet bij? Onze plantexperts helpen je graag.
Stel je vraagHow much space does a fig tree need?
A fig tree grows to 3 to 4 metres tall and also gets quite wide. Allow a space of a few metres per tree, or keep it smaller by pruning. In a large pot it stays more compact.
When should you plant a fig tree?
Plant in spring, once severe frost is over, or in early autumn. This lets the tree root before summer or winter.
Where should you plant a fig tree?
In the sunniest spot you have, preferably sheltered against a south-facing wall. Warmth and sun are needed for the figs to ripen properly. The soil must be well-drained.
Is a fig tree hardy?
A mature fig tree can withstand quite hard frost. Young plants are more sensitive; protect them during the first winters with horticultural fleece and a layer of mulch around the base. In a pot, move it against the house wall in winter.
Is a fig tree toxic to cats and dogs?
Yes, the leaves and milky sap of the fig tree are toxic to cats and dogs. The milky sap can also irritate the skin of people, so wear gloves when pruning. The ripe figs themselves are edible for people.
