When do you plant raspberry plants?
Plant raspberries in spring, from March to May, or in autumn from September to November. Water well after planting and keep the soil moist during the first season.
Where is the best place to plant raspberries?
In a sunny to partially shaded spot with well-drained, humus-rich soil. The more sun, the sweeter the fruit. A wire or fence to tie the canes to is handy.
Are raspberry plants hardy?
Yes, raspberries are hardy. They are not evergreen: they drop their leaves in winter and sprout again in spring.
How do you prune raspberries?
After the harvest, cut the canes that have fruited close to the ground. Leave this year's young canes standing, because next year's raspberries grow on them.
