Yes, it is hardy. In a mild winter some of the leaves stay on the plant, after a severe winter it sprouts again in spring.
When do you prune Hypericum calycinum?
Cut it back to just above the ground before the end of February. It will then sprout densely and freshly and flower in summer on the new wood.
