This Alpinia zerumbet 'Variegata', also called variegated shell ginger, has long leaves with a fresh pattern of yellow and green stripes. The leaves grow on sturdy stems that grow straight upwards and together form a dense clump. The plant is 90 cm tall including nursery pot in a pot of ø24 cm.

It looks lovely in a bright living room, conservatory or veranda, where the striped foliage stands out well. Give it a bright spot with some morning or evening sun and keep the potting soil slightly moist during the growing period. From June to September it can be outdoors in a sheltered spot, but it does not tolerate frost. Shell ginger is non-toxic to cats and dogs. It is supplied in the nursery pot; choose a decorative pot separately.
