Species: Ceropegia woodii 'Variegata' · Height: 5 cm (including nursery pot) · Pot size: ø6 cm

The variegated string of hearts, Ceropegia woodii 'Variegata', is a trailing plant with small heart-shaped leaves in grey-green with cream to pink edges, on long, thin stems. You may also know it as rosary vine. This little plant is 5 cm tall including nursery pot, in a pot of ø6 cm.

It looks its best on a high shelf, bookcase or in a hanging pot, where the stems can grow freely downwards. Place it in a sunny or very bright spot; with more light, the edges become pinker. It is a succulent, so allow the soil to dry out thoroughly between waterings. According to the ASPCA, it is non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Delivery

Shipping a two-metre plant takes more than a box and some tape. That's why we do it differently from an ordinary online shop.

How your plant arrives in one piece

Fresh from the greenhouse
Your plant does not sit in a warehouse for weeks. The grower only takes it out of the greenhouse after you order and prepares it straight away.
Packed securely
In a box made for plants. Plant and soil are secured and a protective sleeve keeps the leaves intact, so nothing shifts on the way.
Protected from heat and frost
Is it very hot or freezing outside? Then we add a cold pack or heat pack to the box, so the weather doesn't affect your plant on the way.
The right carrier for every size
Smaller plants are delivered by PostNL or DHL. The very largest plants travel upright on a pallet with a specialist carrier.
You know exactly when it arrives
As soon as your plant is on its way, you receive track & trace by email, so you can make sure someone is home and, for a large plant, someone to help carry it in.

Frequently asked questions about Ceropegia woodii 'Variegata'

The questions we're asked most about this plant. Can't find yours? Our plant experts are happy to help.

Ask your question

How large does a variegated string of hearts grow?

This string of hearts is 5 cm tall including nursery pot, in a pot of ø6 cm. It remains low in height; however, the stems continue to grow and can become more than one metre long after a few years.

Where should you hang a string of hearts?

In a bright to sunny spot, for example in front of an east- or west-facing window. Hang it high or place it on a shelf, so the stems can hang freely.

How often should you water a string of hearts?

Little: wait until the soil is completely dry. In summer, this is about once a week to once every ten days; in winter, once every two to three weeks.

Is a string of hearts toxic to cats?

No, Ceropegia woodii is listed by the ASPCA as non-toxic to cats and dogs. Cats do enjoy playing with trailing stems, so hang it out of their reach if necessary.

Why is my variegated string of hearts losing its pink colour?

The pink and cream-coloured edges show best with plenty of light. In a dark spot, the leaves become greener and the stems grow with greater distances between the leaves.
