Plant winter aconite in autumn, as early as possible, from September to the end of November. It is one of the first flowers of the year, with small yellow flowers in February and March.
How deep do you plant winter aconite?
Soak the hard tubers overnight in lukewarm water first. Then plant them about 5 centimetres deep. If you cannot see which side is up, lay them flat.
How much winter aconite do you need per m²?
With a planting distance of 8 to 10 centimetres, you need about 120 tubers per square metre. Use the calculator on this page to convert your area into a number of bulbs.
Can you plant winter aconite in a pot?
You can, but winter aconite does better in open ground under trees and shrubs. There it can spread by seed into a yellow carpet.
Does winter aconite come back every year?
Yes, in a spot it likes, winter aconite comes back every year and self-seeds. In the first year flowering is sometimes modest, after that it becomes fuller.
