When do you plant a yew hedge?
Spring and autumn are the best times. Because these plants are pot-grown, you can also plant them at other times outside periods of frost and heat. Water regularly in the first year.
Can a yew hedge grow in shade?
Yes, yew grows in sun, partial shade and shade. The soil matters more: it must drain water well, because with wet feet the roots rot.
Is yew hardy and evergreen?
Yes, yew is hardy and keeps its dark green needles all year. The hedge therefore gives privacy in winter too.
Is yew toxic?
Yes, yew is highly toxic to people, dogs, cats and horses. Needles, branches and seeds are toxic, only the red fruit flesh is not. Clear up clippings and do not let animals nibble at the hedge.
