Details

The Homalomena Rubescens Maggy is a compact plant with heart-shaped, glossy leaves in various shades of green. This full plant creates an attractive, green corner in any room. A low-maintenance houseplant with character.

Species: Homalomena rubescens 'Maggy' · Height: 100 cm (including nursery pot) · Pot size: ø24 cm

Homalomena rubescens 'Maggy' is a full foliage plant with glossy, heart-shaped leaves on reddish stems, growing from the pot in a dense cluster. This plant is 100 cm tall, including the grow pot, and stands in a pot of ø24 cm.

It suits a living room or bedroom well, even a spot a little further from the window, as long as it's bright there. Harsh afternoon sun can scorch the leaves, so choose a spot with indirect light instead. Keep the soil lightly moist and prevent water from collecting at the bottom of the pot. A normal room temperature without draughts is ideal for this tropical plant. It's a forgiving plant for those without much experience yet. You receive it in the grow pot.

Delivery

Shipping a two-metre plant takes more than a box and some tape. That's why we do it differently from an ordinary online shop.

How your plant arrives in one piece

Fresh from the greenhouse
Your plant does not sit in a warehouse for weeks. The grower only takes it out of the greenhouse after you order and prepares it straight away.
Packed securely
In a box made for plants. Plant and soil are secured and a protective sleeve keeps the leaves intact, so nothing shifts on the way.
Protected from heat and frost
Is it very hot or freezing outside? Then we add a cold pack or heat pack to the box, so the weather doesn't affect your plant on the way.
The right carrier for every size
Smaller plants are delivered by PostNL or DHL. The very largest plants travel upright on a pallet with a specialist carrier.
You know exactly when it arrives
As soon as your plant is on its way, you receive track & trace by email, so you can make sure someone is home and, for a large plant, someone to help carry it in.

When will your plant arrive?

4–5working days after you order

Plant care

Location: Bright, indirect light; avoid direct sunlight. A bright spot without strong midday sun is ideal.
Water: Keep the potting soil slightly moist, but not wet. Water regularly in small amounts and allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings. Water less in winter, slightly more in summer.
Feeding: Feed with liquid houseplant food once a month in spring and summer. Do not fertilize in winter.
Temperature: Between 18-27°C, away from drafts and cold places. Prefers high humidity.

Extra tips:
• Mist the leaves regularly or use a humidifier for high humidity.
• Repot every 2-3 years in spring.

Flowering

A Homalomena can occasionally flower indoors with a small, inconspicuous spadix in a spathe, like many plants in the arum family. The flowering is modest and barely stands out among the leaves. You mainly buy it for its heart-shaped foliage. The plant is usually not yet in flower on delivery.

Please note: this is a natural plant. Your plant may differ from the photo in the number of leaves and stems. We grow to pot size and height.

Plant height may vary by up to 10 cm. Height includes the nursery pot. The nursery pot may differ from the one in the photo.
