Details

The Polyscias Fabian is a tough, tree-like plant with dark, round leaves on an elegant stem. This compact plant provides a modern, green accent in any room. A striking eye-catcher with character.

Species: Polyscias scutellaria 'Fabian' · Height: 90 cm (including nursery pot) · Pot size: ø24 cm

The aralia Fabian (Polyscias scutellaria 'Fabian') has round, glossy dark green leaves that grow on short stalks along branching little stems. This compact specimen is 90 cm tall including the grow pot and stands in a pot of ø24 cm. It looks lovely on the floor beside a chair, on a low cabinet or in a bright study. It is a plant for a warm spot; draughts and a cold windowsill cause leaf drop. Place it in a bright spot, out of direct midday sun. Keep the soil evenly moist and let the top layer dry out a little between waterings. It likes slightly higher humidity, so misting it now and then does it good. It is supplied in the grow pot, and a decorative pot is chosen separately.

Delivery

Shipping a two-metre plant takes more than a box and some tape. That's why we do it differently from an ordinary online shop.

How your plant arrives in one piece

Fresh from the greenhouse
Your plant does not sit in a warehouse for weeks. The grower only takes it out of the greenhouse after you order and prepares it straight away.
Packed securely
In a box made for plants. Plant and soil are secured and a protective sleeve keeps the leaves intact, so nothing shifts on the way.
Protected from heat and frost
Is it very hot or freezing outside? Then we add a cold pack or heat pack to the box, so the weather doesn't affect your plant on the way.
The right carrier for every size
Smaller plants are delivered by PostNL or DHL. The very largest plants travel upright on a pallet with a specialist carrier.
You know exactly when it arrives
As soon as your plant is on its way, you receive track & trace by email, so you can make sure someone is home and, for a large plant, someone to help carry it in.

When will your plant arrive?

Frequently asked questions about Polyscias scutellaria 'Fabian'

The questions we're asked most about this plant. Can't find yours? Our plant experts are happy to help.

Ask your question

How big does a Polyscias Fabian get?

A Polyscias Fabian grows slowly and indoors usually gets no taller than 1.5 to 2 metres. XXLplant sells it from 60 to 100 cm tall, measured including the nursery pot. Thanks to that slow growth it keeps roughly the same shape for years.

Where should you put a Polyscias Fabian?

Put your Polyscias Fabian in a bright spot or partial shade, out of direct sunlight. It likes warmth, between about 18 and 24 °C, and no draughts. A permanent spot works best, as it does not like being moved.

How often should you water a Polyscias Fabian?

Keep the soil of a Polyscias Fabian lightly moist and let the top layer dry out a little between waterings. Avoid wet feet, as they can cause the roots to rot. Water less in winter.

Is a Polyscias Fabian toxic to cats and dogs?

A Polyscias Fabian is considered mildly toxic to cats and dogs. The leaves contain saponins that can cause stomach and intestinal upset if eaten. It is best kept out of reach of pets that nibble plants.

Why is my Polyscias Fabian losing leaves after delivery?

A Polyscias Fabian is sensitive to change and often drops some leaves after a move, in a draught or in the cold. Give it a bright, warm spot, don't overwater and let it settle in quietly. After a few weeks it usually puts out new leaves again.

How is a Polyscias Fabian delivered?

Your Polyscias Fabian travels upright in its own plant box, with the crown in a paper sleeve and the pot secured. In frosty or hot weather we add a heat pack or cold pack. Delivery usually takes 4 to 5 working days.
