All plants suitable for indoor use

Choose by height and space

The 82 houseplants in this collection range from 30 to 260 cm tall. We always measure from the bottom of the pot to the tallest leaf. So measure the spot and the ceiling height at home before you order, and allow for the spread of the leaves as well.

  • Up to 150 cm: medium plants such as ZZ plant, Aspidistra and Areca palm, for next to the sofa or by a low cabinet
  • 150 to 200 cm: large plants such as Strelitzia nicolai, Dracaena and Pachira
  • From 200 cm: XXL sizes such as a 250 cm Strelitzia augusta or a 220 cm Kentia palm

Prices range from €24.95 to €399.95.

Light decides your choice

First check how much light the spot gets. Strelitzia, olive tree and Ficus lyrata want plenty of light and do best close to a large window. Palms such as Areca and Kentia, as well as Monstera and Dracaena, do well in a bright spot without harsh midday sun. For a darker corner, the ZZ plant and the Aspidistra (cast iron plant) are strong choices, because they cope with little light. Not sure? Use our plant finder.

Care and pets

Large houseplants need more water per watering than small ones, but not more often. Water when the top few centimetres of soil are dry and never leave water in the decorative pot. Overwatering is the most common cause of problems with indoor plants. Short on time? Pick a low-maintenance plant such as ZZ plant, Sansevieria or Beaucarnea. Of the 82 plants, 38 are listed as pet-friendly. If you have a cat or dog, keep an eye on that label when choosing.

Species and delivery

Searching by species? Browse the Ficus range, including fiddle leaf figs up to 230 cm, or the palms with Kentia, Areca and Chamaedorea among others. A large plant looks best with space around it. Put it on its own in a corner or by a window rather than squeezed between furniture.

Your plant comes in a nursery pot, and you can pick a decorative pot separately. In the Netherlands your order arrives in 4 to 5 working days, upright in a sturdy plant box. Delivery within the Netherlands is free from €99. If anything does get damaged on the way, send us a photo and we will send you a new plant free of charge.

Frequently asked questions

Which large houseplant copes with low light?
The ZZ plant, the Aspidistra (cast iron plant) and the Sansevieria all cope well with little light. A Kentia palm also manages in a less bright spot. Complete darkness is not good for any plant, so do not put these species in a room without a window either.
Which large houseplants are not toxic to pets?
Of the 82 plants in this collection, 38 are listed as pet-friendly. Well-known examples are the Areca palm, the Kentia palm and the Chamaedorea. Unsure about a particular plant? Check the product information or ask us.
How often should you water a large houseplant?
That depends on the species, the light and the season. A rule of thumb: water when the top few centimetres of soil feel dry, and then water generously. Most houseplants need less water in winter. Never leave water standing in the decorative pot.
How is a large houseplant delivered?
In the Netherlands your plant is delivered to your door in 4 to 5 working days, upright in a sturdy plant box. Delivery within the Netherlands is free from €99. If the plant arrives damaged, send us a photo and we will send you a new plant free of charge.
What is a good large plant for the living room?
That depends on the light. By a large south or west-facing window, Strelitzia nicolai and Ficus lyrata do well. In a bright spot without direct sun, Kentia, Areca palm and Monstera are a good choice. For a dark corner, go for a ZZ plant or Aspidistra.
